Our 2021 Impact

We’re getting ready for 2022 over here at Women in Data, but first we need to appropriately celebrate 2021. And we have a lot to celebrate.

Our Community

Our global community keeps growing and we’re proud to be recognized as the No. 1 Community for Women in Tech & AI.

In 2021, we welcomed more than 15 new chapters to our global community. Our chapters help our members connect, grow and lead at a local level.

We grew our overall community to 20,000 new and experienced data leaders and data enthusiasts, helping support our mission of increasing diversity in data careers.

Our Programs

In 2021, we helped more than 500 members thrive in their careers through our programs and events.

  • 235 members participated in our mentorship program in 2021

  • 63 members participated in DataCamp study groups

  • 50 members successfully graduated from our residency program

  • 100+ events were held across our community in 2021

Member Success

I started teaching myself data science & analytics online in 2020 and the first course I took was ‘SQL for Data Science’ on Coursera, taught by Sadie St. Lawrence. I took inspiration from her in what a data professional does and her blog helped me define the data science roadmap, framework and find additional resources. Through this medium I discovered the Women in Data community which was at that time preparing a new cohort for the mentorship program. I signed up looking for a mentor to guide me in my journey and I found so much more. I participated in the monthly book club, mentorship, life coaching, DataCamp study groups and volunteered to support my local chapter. I learned how to network and met wonderful ladies worldwide. Through the power of networking, a WiD member referred me for my first data-role, helping me breakthrough in the industry with a successful career change from hospitality to tech.

- Domnica Seitan, London Chapter Lead

This year’s accomplishments wouldn’t be possible without our wonderful members, WiD community and partners.

Thank you for your support and we can’t wait to see what 2022 brings!
