Finding your path in data

Last year, Women in Data worked with the City of Rancho Cordova in California to propose a program to help members of the community, especially women, who were negatively impacted in their career by the pandemic. We set out to build a program that would help participants relaunch their career in data analytics.

We believe in the power of education and professional development throughout one’s career, and designed our program focused on those two areas. In January 2022, Women in Data kicked off our first cohorts in the Path Forward program. Participants spent the first two months of the program working toward earning a data analytics certificate through DataCamp.

During these months, participants refined their skills in Python, data manipulation, data visualization, importing data, cleaning data, SQL, and data storytelling.

More than 90 percent of participants felt the data analyst certificate and education has helped them upskill in their career and nearly two-thirds of participants feel very confident or confident in their data analytics skills after completing the certificate.

Next up in the program, participants will take a Portfolio Builder course to help guide them in developing a project portfolio using the skills they just learned through the data analyst certificate. This will also be an opportunity to receive more coaching and professional development to support their career journey.

We are so proud of the Path Forward participants and what each member has been able to accomplish so far through the program! We are also excited to launch our new Learning Pathways program designed to help even more Women in Data members strengthen their data skills in data analytics or data science using DataCamp.

Both of these programs would not be possible without the support of DataCamp Donates. Thank you to DataCamp for helping make DataCamp accessible for FREE to all WiD members, and for helping power the learning behind these programs!
