Empowering Careers in Data Science

Celebrating a Year of Learning, Growth, and Achievement at WiD

We are driven by a powerful mission: to empower, educate, and bring diversity to the field of data science. We passionately believe in the transformative potential of continuous education and the pursuit of professional development at every stage of one's career.

This belief has been enriched and furthered by the generous support we receive from DataCamp Donates. Through their valuable contributions, we have been able to expand our offerings significantly, providing our members with access to an impressive range of over 420 interactive courses, comprehensive Certifications, and a wealth of other learning resources.

Our members have diligently honed their expertise in diverse areas such as Python programming, data visualization, data importing and cleaning, SQL, the art of data storytelling, and beyond. Let's take a peek at the remarkable highlights from this past year: Our community completed a staggering 3,919 courses, clearly demonstrating their fervor for learning and enhancing their data skills.

DataCamp classes also saw an encouraging 524 participants in total. Python was a hot favorite, with 383 enthusiasts deep diving into it, while SQL also drew a strong following of 252 participants. It's worth noting that Python still holds its fort as the most coveted skill in the realm of data science. However, Git, Shell, and Julia, not being as frequently used as Python, didn't generate as much interest.

DataCamp Donates is a pivotal ally for Women in Data, significantly contributes to our mission of enhancing diversity in data-centric careers. Their generous donation provides the necessary resources to empower our community, fostering their career growth and development.

Path Forward Program

We'd be remiss not to shine a spotlight on our Path Forward program. This February 2023, Women in Data joyfully launched our second cohort in the Path Forward program. During the first couple of months, participants of this program were engaged in the pursuit of a data analytics certificate through DataCamp. In addition, they will be benefiting from Women in Data's support in resume-building and hiring assistance. We couldn't be prouder of the Path Forward participants and eagerly anticipate the myriad of accomplishments each member will undoubtedly achieve through this program!

All of these programs would not be possible without the support of DataCamp Donates. Thank you to DataCamp for helping make DataCamp accessible for FREE to all WiD members, and for helping power the learning behind these programs! You can sign up for membership here. We also provide the Women in Data Scholarship for those who are disadvantaged or need financial assistance. The scholarship grants you a free 1-year membership.
