Why The Need

4th Industrial Revolution

The fourth industrial revolution is here. As new technologies emerge in robotics, artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, quantum computing, biotechnology, and the Internet of Things, the one thing underlying all of these technologies together is DATA.

Diversity.jpg

Diversity Deficiency

Women make up half of the total U.S. college-educated workforce, but only 29% of the science and engineering workforce (Source: NSF, Science & Engineering Indicators, 2016). In data science, we see even worse diversity numbers with women making up only 16% of data scientists (Source: Burtch Works) and only 12% of machine learning researchers (Source: Element AI)

Job Opportunity.jpg

Job Opportunity

By the year 2020, there are expected to be 2.7 million jobs for data and analytics in the US alone (Source: The Quant Crunch). The World Economic Forum (WEF) estimates that machines and algorithms in the workplace are expected to create 133 million new roles. Due to this shift, 54% of employees of large companies would need to up-skill in order to fully harness these growth opportunities (Source: WEF “The Future of Jobs 2018.”)

A New Wave

Women in data is here to increase diversity in data careers. We solve this problem through our Eco-system & three pillars.

Awareness.jpg

Awareness

We provide quarterly symposiums at our local chapters by bringing in industry experts, companies, and universities. We want to build awareness of the trends and opportunities in the field of data science, AI, machine learning, and data privacy and security.

Education.jpg

Education

We provide education opportunities through our residency programs and certifications along with education referrals through our partner universities.

Opportunity

Our goal is to get our members jobs! We provide opportunity to our members through our job board, ScoutFor job notification system, residency program, and our select referral program.
